One-pot synthesis is a technique to increase the efficiency of a chemical reaction in which a reactant is exposed to consecutive chemical reactions in just one reactor. The avoidance of a time-consuming separation procedure and the purification of the intermediate chemical compounds can increase chemical yield while saving time and resources, which is why chemists highly desire it. The entire synthesis of tropinone or the Gassman indole synthesis are two examples of one-pot syntheses. Sequential one-pot syntheses can be used to produce even complex targets with multiple stereocenters, such as oseltamivir, which may significantly reduce the overall number of steps needed and have significant commercial implications. Telescoping synthesis is another name for a sequential one-pot synthesis in which chemicals are fed to a reactor one at a time and without work-up.
