Enantioselectivity

Asymmetric synthesis, also known as enantioselective synthesis, is a kind of chemical synthesis. According to IUPAC, it is "a chemical reaction where one or more new chirality elements are produced in a substrate molecule and which creates the stereoisomeric (enantiomeric or diastereomeric) products in uneven proportions." It is the synthesis of a chemical using a technique that encourages the creation of a certain enantiomer or diastereomer, to put it another way. Enantiomers are stereoisomers that each feature a chiral centre with a different conformation. Stereoisomers with one or more chiral differences are known as stereoeomers. Diverse enantiomers or diastereomers of a molecule frequently have different biological activities, making enantioselective synthesis an essential procedure in contemporary chemistry and a crucial step in the pharmaceutical industry.
