The photochemical reaction is nothing more than a chemical process that begins with the absorption of light as energy. The quantum yields and ensuing rate constants of all pertinent photophysical and photochemical processes provide details on the composition, destiny, lifetimes, and reactivities of any reactive intermediates. It is a discipline of chemistry that focuses mostly on the rates and processes of reactions that happen when reactants are exposed to one another.
