Organometallic Catalysis

The Monsanto acetic acid procedure includes a carbonylation reaction using an organometallic catalyst. For the purpose of producing acetic acid from methanol industrially, Monsanto launched it in the 1970s. With HI and [RhI2(CO)2]-as a co-catalyst, the process uses dual catalysis. Karl Ziegler, a German chemist, developed a process for producing nearly fully linear HDPE at low pressures and low temperatures with the presence of intricate organometallic catalysts. This approach was first introduced in the early 1950s. Heterogeneous or organometallic catalytic materials, such as palladium on carbon. When a reaction is homogeneous—as opposed to heterogeneous, where catalysis occurs at the catalyst's surface—the catalyst and reaction substrates are in the same phase.
