The use of industrial waste to clean gases from environmentally hazardous components not only solves the problem of their utilization, but also creates waste-free, efficient and economical technologies for processing raw materials, solving the problems of their integrated use.
A high activity of anode slime of electrochemical plants in the processes of catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons was established. Anodic sludge has a complex physicochemical structure and composition corresponding to oxides and hydroxides in higher oxidation states, compounds of transition metals with variable valency crystallizing in structures having catalytic activity in oxidation reactions of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons.
It has been established that sorbents saturated with non-ferrous metal ions extracted from aqueous solutions of their salts possess catalytic properties in oxidation reactions. The high efficiency of the use of bentonite clay containing metal ions, including those used in wastewater treatment cycles, for cleaning the gaseous phase from hydrocarbons (up to 75%) is shown.
