Title : TC2C™ A transformative petrochemical technology

Abstract:

The Thermal-Crude-to-Chemicals (TC2C™) is a transformative technology in the petrochemical industry that simplifies the crude oil conversion process compared to conventional approaches, delivering a high-chemical yield of over 70 wt% compared to 40-50 wt% in conventional processes. The TC2C™ has been developed jointly between Saudi Aramco, Lummus technology, and Chevron Lummus Global (CLG) to enable growth in the Chemicals sector in a more cost-effective approach.
This technology integrates Lummus' ethylene production technologies with Saudi Aramco's Integrated Separation Device (ISD) and catalyst technologies, and CLG's advanced hydroprocessing catalysts and reactor designs. This synergy simplifies the crude oil conversion process by eliminating multiple intermediate steps while delivering a higher chemicals yield along with an exceptional energy efficiency.
TC2C™ technology optimizes the production of high-value chemicals by tailoring the hydrogen content of selected crude oil components to make an optimum feed for a steam cracker. The crude oil is fed into the ISD, a novel separator that allows to split the crude into different fractions for optimal processing and conversion within the steam cracker. Additionally, TC2C is flexible to process a wide range of feedstock including low-value heavy refinery streams into high-value chemicals that may be difficult to process otherwise, such as slurry oil, vacuum residue, and pyrolysis.
By leveraging deep process intensification and optimized energy efficiency, TC2C™ offers a versatile, customizable solution to maximize high-value chemical production, positioning it as a transformative technology for the future of the petrochemical industry.
