Title : Preparation and physicochemical characterization of lanthanum-calcium co-doped barium titanate

Abstract:

Perovskite structure ceramic powders of calcium-doped lanthanum barium titanate, La0.01(Ba1-xCax)0.99 TiO3: LBCT, were prepared by sol-gel process using the destabilization of colloidal solution (DSC) method. BaCO3, CaCO3, La(CH3COO)3, nH2O and Ti[OCH(CH3)2]4 were used as starting materials, lactic acid, acetic acid and double-distilled water as solvents. The effect of temperature on the amorphous LBCT powders was studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning electron diffraction (DTA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The experimental results obtained show that the ceramic powders crystallize in a pure perovskite structure at a relatively low temperature, around 900°C, with an average grain diameter of around 0.22mm.
