Title : Photocatalytic activity of surface modification of TiO2 nanoparticles

Abstract:

TiO2 is of interest for various applications such as photocatalytic, photoelectrochemical, and super-hydrophilic properties. However, TiO2 nanoparticles are very easily to agglomerate in mediums and show poor dispersion capacity in solvents, and therefore the applications of TiO2 nanoparticles are mainly limited. Surface modification of TiO2 nanoparticles is an important pathway toward the synthesis of hybrid materials. The main application of these hybrid materials are synthesis of polymer composite due to the enhanced phase compatibility and formation of ordered structures by controlled self-assembly and improvement of dispersibility of the nanoparticles in various media.

In this works, For the improvement of TiO2 nanoparticles dispersion, the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles was modified with Amino- silane coupling agent (SCA). The goal of this work was to synthesize modified TiO2 nanoparticles using surface modification method, and to establish optimal synthetic parameters. The microstructure and properties such as self-cleaning, surface hydrophobicity, ultraviolet and corrosion resistance were investigated.
